Running With Scissors, creators of the legendary POSTAL video game series, has announced its sponsorship of Olga Pak’s competitive gaming team. The all-female, Russian-based clan that Pak founded in 2003 recently made it all the way to the Electronic Sports World Cup (ESWC) finals in San Jose, CA. The finals involve teams from 50 different countries in several game categories and as part of the sponsorship the Russian girls are wearing the logo for next year’s POSTAL III on their t-shirts, trunks and jackets.
“Hot Russian girl gamers,” remarked RWS Czar Vince Desi, “how can you go wrong? It will be a pleasure to see our logo on their asses.”

Hooked Gamers: "The reputation of the six man strong Running With Scissors team is hardly that of choir boys.

Desi, your gaming company, Running With Scissors, has confronted and overthrown every threat to your company's existence imaginable: games being pulled from store shelves, lawsuits from the United States Postal Service, Senator Lieberman... are there any major differences you've discovered in being censored from movie theaters, as opposed to being censored in the video game community?"

Vince Desi: "Censorship is evil in any form. While the players may be different, it's all the same, some individuals or parties have a common agenda and any small entity that threatens them will be harmed. Although I do believe that ultimately the love for greed and gain will overcome their pseudo moral positions. It's amazing what people will do for money, especially if they think they can get away with it. Fact is the movie is still playing and will continue to open in more theatres."

May 26 - “POSTAL” Reviewed by Kurt Loder on MTV! - Click Here To Comment

"With the release of "Postal," which makes the early work of John Waters seem like the family classics of Frank Capra, Uwe Boll stakes a strong claim to being the world's most offensive. I mean that in a good way. "Postal" is a foul and horrifying movie, a classic of its kind. I laughed pretty much non-stop, cringing in shame and yet cackling helplessly nevertheless. The Dude finds Dave in bed with three naked women. There follows a bathroom scene that I will not describe. A picture like "Postal" is the reason the midnight-movie circuit was created. "

Film Version of Video Game Opens May 23rd

"The film’s outrageous 9-11-based opening sequence was released and it went viral. By the time the film opens in theaters, that clip will have been viewed by well over two million sets of eyes via YouTube. In addition to its pre-credit sequence, earlier cuts of the entire film were previewed to totally unexpected rave reviews in cities including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and RWS’ home town of Tucson. From TV station/game site G4 to Michael J. Hein, the Director of the New York City Horror Film Festival (who called “Postal” “the funniest film of the year… hands down!”), audiences from Tribeca to Tucson have loved the movie—even POSTAL’s notoriously cranky creators."

"As the movie’s scattershot plot rocks along, the audience gets a long full-frontal look at a nude Dave Foley, the boyish comic best known for his work in the Kids in the Hall comedy troupe and on the television show “News Radio,” who portrays a sleazy satyr of a cult leader. By the time the film’s protagonist, played by Zack Ward, uses a cat for a silencer, the boundaries of good taste have been left so far behind that the Hubble Space Telescope couldn’t spot the border signs.
Considering the gross-out and sexual-humor quotient of many recent films, “Postal” could well find an audience. The raucous crowd at a screening presented by the New York City Horror Film Festival last month erupted in laughter for every startlingly transgressive joke. As a couple left the theater, a woman told her date, “It made no sense, but it was hysterical.”

#5. Confessions of the Game Doctor - By Bill Kunkel

"They don't make 'em like Bill Kunkel anymore. Along with his partners Arnie Katz and Joyce Worley, Kunkel founded Electronic Games magazine in 1981, inventing video game journalism as we know it. Confessions of the Game Doctor traces Kunkel's sometimes-bizarre ride through the video game industry, detailing the slings, arrows, sex, and drugs of outrageous fortune. It's a bit incoherent at times, but this is far from a sanitized boring memoir. The gonzo Kunkel sits back and lets it all fly, detailing cocaine-fuelled writing sessions, public sex, and his involvement in the production of the horrible game based on Batman Returns. As a warts-and-all autobiography, it's unmatched, and provides readers with an invaluable snapshot of video games' crazy early days."

Violent video games are often blamed for real-world violence, and critics of the industry often cite academic studies to back up their claims. Now, a report presented at the British Psychological Society's Annual Conference in Dublin says violent games may in fact lessen the urge to commit violent acts in the real world.
In a study conducted by Jane Barnett and colleagues at Middlesex University, psychologists found that gamers were more likely to be calm or simply tired after playing, rather than itching to go outside and kick someone's head in.

March 13 - POSTAL MOVIE REVIEWED ON THE HORROR REVIEW! - Click Here To Comment

"Boll has opened his new movie with what plays like a parody of the climactic scenes of UNITED 93. What’s surprising is that the scene is genuinely funny, and sets the fearless, anarchic tone for the madness to follow. This grim farce is equally influenced by SOUTH PARK (and, by extension, TEAM AMERICA : WORLD POLICE), FALLING DOWN, Russ Meyer and Troma Films. Although very funny throughout and broadly performed, this nihilistic comedy is as grim as they come, a fact reinforced by the ending - arguably one of the most subversive fade-outs to any movie this decade. In a kind of 21st century variant on the close of DOCTOR STRANGELOVE, good buddies George W Bush and Osama Bin Laden skip into the sunset together, reciting the parting line from beloved American classic CASABLANCA as mushroom clouds rise above the city and the nuclear holocaust begins. For this astonishing finale (and for the fabulous line “What’s the difference between a duck?”), POSTAL is essential viewing."

"I laughed my ass off! First and foremost is Dave Foley, who effortlessly gives a great performance as Uncle Dave. I’d thought Foley had gone a little soft since his Kids in the Hall days. But after seeing him here, I’m proud to say he hasn’t mellowed one bit. He's just awesome in ways that can't be described without homoerotic overtones. Postal is so ballsy and unconcerned with playing touchy-feely that you have to admire the sheer joyful fearlessness that went in its making. It pokes fun at black people, celebrities, immigrants, Americans, fat people, Muslims, dwarves, Asians, gun nuts, cops, Germany, September 11th, women, religion, Americans, tragedy, war, the holocaust, death, Americans, children, the mentally challenged, and even at Uwe Boll himself!

"EXCLUSIVE: 'Postal' Actually A Good Movie!"
Ready for a shock to the World Wide Web? "Dr. Uwe Boll's POSTAL is one of the funniest movies of the year and his most accomplished film to date. Dr. Boll has not only taken a one-note videogame and written a crassly smart mirror reflecting our jaded, over-caffeinated times, but also assembled his best cast yet. Before you blindly bash Dr. Boll's latest video game-to-film "port" based on his previous work, leave your bullsh#t baggage at the door. It's crude, sometimes campy, almost like the Troma movie Troma could never afford. The film is his most "intentional" comedy yet, a ballsy satire with an offensive mouth, a lot of gore and even a little heart. With POSTAL, Dr. Uwe Boll, the supposed "Satan of Cinema", has finally shown that he's a lot smarter (and funnier) than the geek culture bashes him for, and he might have the cult classic he's been striving to achieve...and might get a little respect out of it."

"This GDC for RWS was different,” Desi marveled. “It was inspiring! We showed the world of publishers, press, and, most importantly, gamers the console premier of POSTAL III. It has been an uphill battle since the press and others have consistently misrepresented the franchise’s content. POSTAL was, is and always will be an Action Comedy Adventure! Ten years of fan support, over one million copies sold, and now POSTAL III is running on the Xbox 360. Do I hear PS3?"

Feb 20 - NEW POSTAL 3 EXCLUSIVES FROM GDC SHOWING! - Click Here To Comment

New and exclusive Postal 3 articles, screenshots and videos from GDC!
During an exclusive GDC showing of the latest Postal 3 demonstration, some of the top video game websites were treated to a lovely little virtual a tour through a Postal 3 porn shop decorated with glow in the dark "massagers", rubber fists, inflatable sheep, tranny posters and enough dirty tissues on the floor to make anyone pray that allergies is the only thing they'll catch.
(Ah, maybe that's why some of the characters had their hand moving around down in the front of their pants, they were just itchy from the allergies!) In response to all of this, representatives from these websites were heard commenting:
"Wow, um... oh hey, look over there, Fable 2!"
